Disaster adverted!!

I woke up yesterday in a total anxiety panic that the rabbits weren’t getting any water. Scott hooked up this gravity fed water bucket that connects to all of their cages that they drink out of. We’re going on about day 10 of our freeze and each morning the lines are frozen but they thaw out by 8 or 9. But yesterday morning I woke up in a total panic that they wouldn’t keep going back to check when the lines thaw so I was afraid I was going to come out and find dead rabbits.

Thankfully they were all fine! The lines were frozen but would soon thaw out.

At the end of the day I still had a bit of an uneasy feeling so I went out to check if the water was flowing to all of the cages. Thank goodness I usually follow my gut feelings on things because only 1 of the 6 rabbits were getting water! Scott worked on trying to figure out why it wasn’t working but couldn’t figure it out. So we gave everyone water bottles on their cages and will have to take a look at it in the daylight and try to solve this mystery.

Baby it’s cold outside!

It’s been a miserable week for me I worked 52 hours and 23 of them were straight through followed by a 2 hr sleep break and 4 more hours of work. Every night since Tuesday except 1 has been freezing. They were even talking snow yesterday which only happens about every 10 years. I haven’t been able to take care of the garden or animals during this time but Scott and Tanner did great and everyone made it through. Except some confused flowers that decided to bloom in the last couple of weeks.

The flowers and peas seem to be crying in such sadness from the frost.

This ornamental kale was the only one that really seemed to be smiling.

And this poor duck was definitely unhappy until I broke the ice on her pond!
